Found a bobcat on the side of the road. Poor guy was hit by a car. He'll live on after I'm done preserving his skull.

@hightide_sw_fl before the peroxide stage, I glue in the teeth and "cracks" to strengthen it.

Omg @akirby that's so raw and nasty! Just like you 🐾

    akirby

@hightide_sw_fl for the next few months it'll soak in water in a plastic container (completely sealed). The microbes eat away all the flesh. After that I clean away all remaining flesh, and soak it in water with blue dawn dish detergent. I change the water once a week for a month. After that the skull is pretty much cleaned. Finally, I brush it with 40 volume peroxide for a week. I don't seal it because I like the natural texture and patina it gets over time.

Check out @cyflies and @nervouswaterhawaii for some 'Hawaiian Style' fly action and flies. They are the triple OGs of fly fishing in Hawai`i...

@singlefinner totally man. Catching a fish on a fly you made is just so cool. Get the "dog UV light" at Walmart for under $10. It's in the camping section. No need spending $30+ on a "fly tying UV light".

@akirby I'll have to try it. My first fly attempts were ugly as sh!t but I caught fish. I can honestly say that my catch rate didn't improve with my fly tying abilities...haha! But if ur gonna fly fish tying ur own is a must to me. #RollYourOwn

@singlefinner Loon. I currently have the thin stuff. I'll also grab some of the thick stuff. I really like it.

I'm cheap. I've always used 5 min epoxy. It does yellow over time though. Always wanted to try UV stuff. What brand you using?

    akirby

@singlefinner tro. I just ordered some fish skulls so the heads will be better and use less UV glue.
