Proud to have completed my level 1 Reiki training with the luminous Tiffany from @c_om_pasha this weekend. What an incredible tool to have for balancing and healing self and others. I practiced on my dog this morning and she loved it! Running around full of beans afterwards πŸ˜ŠπŸΆπŸ™ŒπŸΌβœ¨πŸ’– check out @c_om_pasha she’s always running afternoon trainings and is a highly skilled reiki practitioner herself. #healinghands #reikipractitioner #reikilove

What a whirlwind! Tomorrow is my last day of residency 1 at the #dmba program here at CCA in San Francisco. I'm so in the right place, this school is amazing, both my Economics and Strategic Foresight classes have art projects for the final projects, the whole vibe is humble, warm and visionary, and I feel such an immediate affinity with everybody in the cohort. It's going to be an amazing two years! This is one of the only MBA programs in the country with a majority female student body, and so many of my new friends are from all over the world. I'm excited for what's to come! #dmbalife #alternativemba #womeninleadership #backtoschool #mbaofthefuture #futurist #designstrategy #creativework #schooliscool

I met many of my new classmates yesterday in a fun social organized by the second year students. So many great, creative people in my program 😊 I'm pretty excited to be here! #backtoschool #cca #gradstudentlife #dmba #alternativemba

I have landed! I arrived today in San Francisco, a starkly noisy, busy assault on the senses after the nature time I've been cherishing, and immediately I went to check out my new school campus at the California College of Art, all concrete and glass and steel. Inside I poked around the empty halls, and discovered a bunch of painting studios, a woodworking shop, metal shop, model building, design labs, 3D printers and more. Tomorrow is the first social event and more students will fill the halls then. I'm here for a low residency MBA in design strategy grad program that lives at the intersection of art and business, design thinking and management and tbh I'm excited, but I have no real idea what to expect! I'll be coming down here once a month for classes, so about to get to know San Francisco a whole lot better. And I definitely want to try out the wood working shop, maybe some extra credits in my future ;) #omgomgomg #backtoschool #gradstudentlife #cca

Solar eclipse was a non-event today with a sadly overcast sky, but yesterday's hike at #pointlobos in #BigSur made up for it and then some. One of the most varied and beautiful hikes I've ever done πŸŒ˜πŸŒ²πŸ™ŒπŸΌβœ¨

I hit the road yesterday, heading North past LA, and I'm making my way slowly to San Francisco for the 21st. Last night was my first night camping, at this idyllic campground called Wheeler Gorge, with a creek running through, winding, gnarly trees filled with birds, and at night, the starry sky, crackling fire, and my ukulele were everything I was craving. Now up early and on the road again... next stop Big Sur! πŸŒ³πŸŒ²πŸŒ΄β˜€οΈπŸŒŠ #soloadventure #caliroadtrip #californiadreamin #campinglife

Palm Springs is full of wonderful visual motifs that echo the history and heart of the place. These tiles were found seemingly randomly on the outside of a Greek restaurant. Inside, the owner was warm and engaging, asking my friend and I what we were doing in the desert this time of year (not a strange question considering it is a smokin 42*C here). I replied we were in a leadership retreat, simplistically explaining the purpose was to learn to become a good leader. He piped up that the key to being a good leader, in his opinion, was to be civilized. Good manners could take you to the top, he said. You might be a good doctor for instance, and have success in the world, but if you are also civilized, you have the possibility of reaching the top, from which I would extrapolate: a higher level of connection, a regard for the human experience and interpersonal relationships, and social recognition and success too. For this restaurant owner, manners matter. Relationship matters. It seemed to me that he walked his talk, as both the quality of the food and his warm manners left an impression on me, and I wasn't surprised to find out his business had been around and thriving for nearly 30 years and that he had an almost 5 star rating on his Google listing. He demonstrated by following his own values, and bringing his heart into his business that he could not only attain business success, but that he could be a difference maker, an asset to his community... and at the very least, in my own first-hand experience, a #daymaker 😊Another lesson in leadership outside the workshop walls ⚑️ #RadicalRelating #leadershipskills #leadwithvision #generativelife #possibilities #mannersmatter

Finding myself in the midst of one of the most enjoyable and transformative weeks of my life here in Palm Springs doing a leadership retreat called Power Lab offered by my dear friend/client/mentor @dr.jennmccabe and the #RadicalRelating crew, where essentially you come to learn about how you use your power in the world (for better or for worse). 😜 Experiential, student-centered learning means jumping in the deep end and seeing what decisions you make in a simulated hierarchical environment. Now in the debriefing, we begin to unpack a lifetime's worth of learnings. All the choices made in those three days reveals volumes about how each participant moves through the world, and how we each get our wants and needs met, and how we use our personal power, consciously or unconsciously. So far my biggest takeaway personally is that often despite more visionary intentions, much of my energy is spent living at a kind of base line, making decisions to just get by, or to manage or avoid fear or pain... I witnessed how much richer and vibrant life becomes when I instead operate from a conscious vision, from going after and tending to the possible, not just the necessary. Colours today seem more vibrant as I orient towards my true power, which I see with even greater clarity has nothing to do with what resources I have access to, what roles I play or what authority or social influence I wield, and everything to do with simply what inspires me that I want to share with others. What world do I want to create one decision at a time? And the question always comes back to: what now?βš‘οΈπŸŒ„πŸ’–βœ¨ #generativelife #visionquest #leadwithvision #possibilities #flyinghigh
