Trying my hardest to enjoy the next two months and not let my anxiety take over. Last time I talked about Penelope’s heart I mentioned we would go to Stanford for her next surgery. But after talking to our cardiologist here and in San Francisco, we decided on going back to UCSF for Penelope’s surgery. They both agree that Dr. Reddy is a good fit for this next step. Everyone I’ve talked to say that Dr. Reddy and Dr. Hanley are equally as good. Which doesn’t surprise me, because Dr. Reddy came from Stanford. For us at the end came down to going back to the place were it all started, where they know Penelope and her heart the most.
Both Dr.’s say Penelope is a good candidate for a Rastelli-type two ventricle repair. And we are hoping they are able to re-route her arteries with out using a prosthetic right ventricular to pulmonary artery conduit. That would eliminate another surgery later in life.
I’ve gotten a lot of questions about this and thought I should update y’all on what’s happening with Penelope’s heart. ❤️ I’m sure all my heart family’s understand all this and for those who don’t understand this next surgery I promise to get a clearer picture for you soon. I will say Penelope has a complex heart, so this next surgery is pretty complex too. She is scheduled January 10th and will be having a cath a few days prior. So the next two months will be full of days at home enjoying our family and trying really hard to keep her healthy. All of you have been so supportive in this journey and we are forever grateful for all the love and prayers. Xoxo The Aguirre’s #prayersforpenelopemila
