Tried to go on a run this morning, but too much black ice to keep going. Still—a beautiful foggy morning.
My cousin Jacob and his wife @carriegamble hosted a party at their new barn tonight.
Here's to a new year of work. My greatest regret over the last 3 years or so is that I divided my attention between too many pursuits, without giving my all to any one of them. That bad habit cost me momentum and held back my success. This year I hope to be a year of refining my priorities and focusing on just a few key projects, letting other things fall away. Leaving NYC was the hardest decision of 2017 by far, but it was necessary. Staying in Brooklyn ended up being an unsustainable trade-off. That's not the case for many other people at different stages of life and with different goals, but for us it became a heavy reality: We could keep throwing money in a hole or start to build a livable future. Greenville, SC is where we are for this next season, and the past few months of settling have been a mostly restful experience. I'm still processing that trade-off––giving up a certain density of people and ideas for the possibility of space and margin. I'm ready to work hard in 2018 and make the most of where we've landed. @atlaslocal is a fantastic community of creatives, and the transition wouldn't have been the same without the people here.
