Driving away from Mono Lake, Pope noticed a small sign on the side of the road. The adventurer that he is, he had to pull over, turn around, and take the gravel path way it pointed down. A bumpy ride later we arrived at a hike around the rim of a volcanic crater. For a bit under an hour we walked up and around in winds so strong you could lean back into them and not fall over. It got pretty cold and parts of the walk were quite steep, but the view of the lake we had just been standing at the edge of got even more impressive from distance. #monolake#lake#thanksgiving#volcanic#crater#hike#hiking#scenic#latergram
The dome of St. Peter's Basilica. It was finished in 1626. Technically it's not a Cathedral because it's not the seat of a Bishop.
I don't know how we would build something like this now, and an even more impressed it could be built so long ago. I saw this at the end of my tour of the Vatican, which also included a quick peek at the collection of Popemobiles.
