The #columbiagorge is on fire. 10,000 acres are burning uncontained. People are being evacuated as the fire continues to spread. Pray for Oregon.
Found this gem while unpacking. We were young, naive and in love. @taysah We're not quite as shiny anymore, but now we have grit. Love you always. #rideordie#14
"Transformation is not just the next portion of the cycle in our lives, it is a process in which we choose to willingly surrender. Or we can choose to stay the same."
Abiding is a Biblical principle that has been a difficult one for me to implement. Understanding is one thing, but action involves intentional engagement. I'm grateful for the kindness of God to have brought me into a season where Psalm 23 came alive in a new way. "He makes me lie down in green pastures." The gift of rest and stillness restores the soul.
Transformation happens when we abide.

It has been a big week for our family. We moved into a new house, I started seminary, the older three kids started a new school and we all were baptized by the waters of the Willamette, our new local river. And we've had Nana in town to provide extra love and support through the change.
We are enjoying each phase of the adventure, and are filled with gratitude for the peace and grace God has provided in this season. And I'm thoroughly enjoying my porch with a view.🌲
Epic is the right word to sum up our Colorado vacation. Thanks for all the memories Ferwerda family! #rockymountainhigh
Change is on the horizon for our family once more. Just a few weeks away from yet another move and all that entails, I'm reflecting on what we learned this last round. Security can be found in the midst of change. Link in profile 📷:@kelliavilaphoto
It has been over a decade since we've all been together. A lot has changed, but our love and affection have not. #wheatoncollegedays
I picked my breakfast on my morning walk. I have anxiously waited for these wild blackberries to ripen. They showed up later than normal this year. But, they were worth the wait. They are my absolutely favorite fruit.
Trouble is, they grow on an ugly, wild and aggressive weed. It is full of thorns and they create a dense thicket. Many people can't stand them and cut them down to find they only grow back again.
But, they produce the sweetest fruit. And this year in particular, after a long cold winter, they are sweeter yet. I eat them by the mouthful and mourn when their season is over. They are free for the taking for those who labor to pick of their bounty. Many enjoy their sweetness as evidenced by the stain left on their lips. Even the animals on the trail this morning stopped to partake. It's good fruit. Come and eat. Taste and see. Matthew 7:18
Thankful for another day at the river with friends. Shared in conversations about seasons of waiting, leaning into trust, and how watching our children grow and learn is a reminder of God's grace and tenderness towards us. I needed the reminder. #riverwalks#rivertalks
