Another day, another spectacular second half bonk. Amsterdam marathon round two in the books - sub three has to wait for another day. Very grateful water stations here include sponges.

🇨🇦 our home and native land 🇨🇦 happy 150!

Everyone has their white whale. Mine is running a marathon in less than three hours (well, and matching home.) I ran my fourth again today, again coming well short having dropped my pace significantly in the second half once I felt my goal was starting to slide 'out of reach.' The marathon has been an incredibly humbling and painful experience every time, and I can't even count the number of times the idea of lying down in the grass by the side of the route came in my head. It's mostly down to the incredible support and motivation from a wonderful set of friends and family that make me want to keep at it, and that will ultimately get me over the line in 2:59:59 or less. The first time, when I was fairly young, we ever ran together, my dad responded to my attempts to convince him we had to stop so I could throw up telling me "if you're going to throw up, throw up, if you're not - keep running." That's stuck - and I promise I'll keep running! #MR17

In Amsterdam the medals are a little bit sweeter. Little gutted to not be able to make a proper push for a bq - but I'll be back for a healthy run at it. #vanrunco
