Little did I know this was the PERFECT book to buy right now. I've been wanting to read it, but had no idea how beautifully written it was or how it would speak so directly to my soul. The English translation is great, but I'm sure the original is better.
Much like the prescriptions from the Literary Apothecary in this book, I can tell this one will change my life. 4 chapters in and already in love.
So my loot for today was a big postcard of one of my favorite Rodin sculptures and a box of macarons from Laduree. Their packaging is just 💯
When I looked in their window, I couldn't resist. I decided to go back after lunch and buy a box of macarons as an early Christmas gift to myself. 🎄
Along the walk from Musée D'Orsay to the café, I stumbled upon the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. And found Laduree, as well as many art galleries, publishing houses, and book shops. I was pleasantly surprised when I found the gentleman decorating Laduree's window for the holidays. So charming.
I love the DK Eyewitness travel books. I've been reading this one along with Rick Steves' guide and the Lonely Planet pocket guide. Lots of juicy tidbits about Paris history and culture. 🇫🇷
Went to lunch today at the famous Café de Flore, known for fostering great thoughts of writers and philosophers the likes of Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir.
The view from the top of the D'Orsay was amazing.
When I saw this one, I couldn't help but think of one of my favorite episodes of television ever: Vincent and the Doctor (Doctor Who). It made me have ALL THE FEELS. Everything from adventure to friendship to hope and heartbreak all at once. It's amazing how good art can do that to a person.
The famous self-portrait.
I mean, seriously. I could've stood in front of this one for hours. There was a huge line to take photos, though so I kept my time to ten minutes...
Van Gogh because Van Gogh. One of my favorite artists ever. I love how you can see his technique, his life force, his struggle, his humanity, his divinity in every brush stroke.
