It's hard to imagine raising my girls away from all this nature in the Bay Area, especially the Pacific coast. This place is endless in exploration.

Today was a little scary day at the children's hospital that thankfully ended with exhausted smiles. However it was another bold reminder to appreciate and to be thankful for my kids, my wife, my family, and life in general. More time with them—that's all I care about.

If we're being honest, pictures of our kids on @instagram would always look something like this.

It's hard to explain the magic of a surf. I've got some really big decisions and a lot of work weighing on me right now so I drove all the way down to Santa Cruz last min to think and of course, surf. I feel so much better. Ideas are flowing!

Raising 2 kids, about to be 3, full time is no easy task, especially in a city like San Francisco. @elisapetty dominates it everyday. It's no wonder our kids love to call her Suuuuper Mommmmy!

I had a pretty perfect 34th birthday today. I surfed with my 3yr old daughter in Capitola and spent the entire day with my five favorite girls— my wife, baby girl in her belly, Waimea, September, and my mom who came all the way out from Tennessee.
Oh and I got a new surfboard 🤗

Thank you all for the birthday wishes! They meant a lot to me. ❤️

Phew! Launches are hard. Thank you for all the support today with freelance.tv— I'm beyond stoked on all the positive vibes and shares. We learned a ton today. We made a few mistakes but the best part about it is that we learned from them. Learned a ton more about video on the web. (YouTube doesn't count views unless you physically hit YT play button). This launch reminded me of what all I had to learn to get to this point and all the mistakes I had to make to figure out video, how to film, and edit. Over and over again. But really there's really no way to grow without making those mistakes. They're gonna happen and you have the opportunity to learn from them and to not let them hold you back. So many times I wanted to give up on video and this idea (it's hard) but a major part of this was just proving to myself I could learn something new. I've still got a ways to go. Moral of the story is if there's something you're wanting to learn or try, please, don't let the fear of making mistakes hold you back. Be more afraid of not trying at all. Ask for help. And keep good honest friends in the feedback loop. --
Shout again to @narrowdesign for the dev on the site, @kris_puckett + @claudiovallejop + @jaredfitch for the feedback, @spenhar for the tunes, and @jeremiahjw for the video advice. @sonyalpha + @invisionapp for the love. And of course as well to everyone that let me in their homes to interview. Thank you!!! ❤️

For the few of you that don't know, Mackey created the logo for Instagram, Oculus, Luxe, and many more.

Thank you Mackey for the time and allowing me into your home. Incredible human.

I'm beyond stoked to announce my new venture freelance.tv! Check it out now!

It's a collection of stories on freelancing and my upcoming documentary called Freelanced. Over the past 12 months I've been traveling across the United States interviewing as many freelancers as I could find. Successful freelancers, people just getting started, people afraid to try it, and everyone in between and over the next bit, I'll be adding more of these stories as well as teasers for the documentary to freelance.tv.

I've spent a majority of my time learning how to film, edit, finding my style, and making mistakes (lots of them). Now, I still have a ways to go but this launch proves if you want it, you can learn it. Start today. I can say this past year has been the most exciting yet, as I've grown in my knowledge for not only video, but freelancing as a whole.

Huge shoutout to my dear friend @narrowdesign for helping me build this beautiful website. Without him, this definitely wouldn't be out there yet nor work as amazing as it does. Also, shoutout to @spenhar for the custom tracks for each video, to @kris_puckett + @claudiovallejop + @jaredfitch for all the feedback, and @jeremiahjw for video advice. Also for my two partners already @sonyalpha + @invisionapp for believing in this idea a year ago.

And of course, this wouldn't be possible without the support of everyone I've interviewed so far and allowed me into their homes. Sometimes even provided a place to stay and a meal—which to be honest was the best part of all of this.
Hope you dig it. More to come.

Rarely is there a good time for vacation. Why not take one tmrw or next week? Take a day or two off. Do some emails in the morning and then head off on an adventure for the rest of the day. Vacations can be short and sweet. You know you deserve one. It's good not only for you but for everyone around you as well.
