hearts are heavy today as we say goodbye to the best dog on the planet. he went to start celebrating his seventeenth birthday in heaven a few days early today. anyone who met frankie knew how great he was. all of the love over the years proved too much for his heart these past few days, but he did not suffer. rest in peace pretty puppy.

Today I had to say a bittersweet goodbye to one of my favorite places on the planet. That is, in part, because it helps to protect this planet. I may have worked at the EPA for a year and a half, but it was like a second home to me. I could not have asked for a better job to be my first "big boy job" out of undergrad. I learned so much about myself here, and I was pushed farther than I thought imaginable. I'll miss my coworkers, my project, my fishy friends, and even my squeaky office door. I will always defend this place and its mission. With my work here, I learned so much, and I feel like I made a difference to protect human health and the environment.
it ain't the fourth without a blurry boomerang of the fireworks 💥
today i closed down my largest experiment ever where i took care of more than 2,000 animals and collected more than 1,000 samples to be processed. feeling accomplished. took this photo on one of my breaks from throwing tubes into liquid nitrogen.
