Had the pleasure of meeting this guy at Ubin yesterday. The oriental scops owl (Otus sunia) resides in peninsular SEA but breeds in east Asia (SE Russia, China, Japan, Korea). Non-breeding visitors can occasionally be found in Singapore (last SG record: Dec 2014)
Malaysian hawk-cuckoo (Hierococcyx fugax), a non-breeding visitor from the region, ranging from Thailand to Brunei. It is a brood parasite of flycatcher species, kicking out occupants of flycatcher nests and tricking flycatcher parents to feed it instead..!
