Big shout to @r.m.williams_official from Australia. Thank you for the crazy comfortable boots! Heading to their brand new store at Domain Northside tonight for a little launch party on the way to the @unrealaltj show at @acllive!
We’ve all been there. You’re creating a great piece of design, and things are going really well, when all of a sudden, things take a turn for the wurst. That’s right. Inadvertent dicks that you can’t unsee. Well, my pal @homsweethom commissioned me to use some of that Freudian energy to celebrate the launch of her new cooking blog @peencuisine, which is just filled with, uh, junk food.
She wasn’t sure if I’d be comfortable contributing, being a straight man and all, but that’s a common phallus-y. Clearly, I was plenty comfortable. Hope you’re all as satisfied by this as I was.
Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Lauren! #peencuisine
🔊🆙 I’m a little late with this. My pal Nate @utesch gave me the great honor of asking me to be a part of the release day for his new #Metavari album Symmetri that came out on Friday.
After listening to the album over the last few weeks, I wanted to write a short poem, inspired by the track Babel, and then maybe letter the words over the album cover. Nate’s lyrics read, “You can’t find us here. You can’t find us at all. You can’t fight us. Shadows on the figure eights of love.” When I listened to this song, I just kept thinking of love as this sort of protective shield, guarding those who believe in its power from anyone who might want to spread hate and division, or to harm them.
Once the album officially came out on Friday, I was listening to it all again after close to a week away from it. I don’t know if Nate made some final tweaks to it before release, or if it was just the idea of having an old friend put out a real record, or what (fun fact: Nate and I went to the same high school in Ft. Wayne, IN). But for whatever reason, I caught a wave of inspiration Friday—the day I was supposed to post this—and decided I couldn’t leave well enough alone, and decided to flesh out my poem into a whole verse and record a remix of Babel.
I’m definitely more of a writer than a singer, and this is definitely not the kind of art that Nate was looking for from me, but hopefully, he’ll take it as compliment to his beautiful work of art that is Symmetri.
Please do yourself a favor and follow @utesch on Instagram, and look up Metavari - Symmetri on Apple Music, Spotify, wherever you listen to music.
New business cards with the logotype I designed for my wife’s new microblading studio @archesbeautybar. She signed a lease on a space today! So proud of her!
Working on some killer bees. 🐝
The wettest, coldest night of the week, of course (56°, but still).
Another year, another custom-painted morphsuit costume. Daddin’ ain’t easy, y’all.
