Weekend lunching. Not pictured because we ate it too fast: duck poutine.
How's the new job so far? Delicious.
Walking into an old office building more than four years ago, I honestly had no idea what to expect when I sat down to interview for a job at Penrose Brewing Company. I mean, I straight up said in the first line of my cover letter that if they were looking for X, Y or Z industry experience, they could simply stop reading and move along to the next candidate. Seriously. But a couple weeks later I found myself part of the team and scrubbing down an empty shell of a building. Since then I’ve watched a concept come to fruition through a lot of hard work, a few hiccups and a hell of a lot of determination to blossom into what it is today. I’ve also met some pretty incredible people, developed lifelong relationships and had some amazing experiences along the way. I’m proud to have had a small part in the brewery’s journey to date, but another opportunity has come along that I couldn’t turn away.
Friday will be my last day at Penrose, and as I look forward to my next professional chapter, I’m really excited to see what Tom and Jake have up their sleeves as they continue to put out world-class beers, and hopefully I can continue to help share them with the world. And if you’ve ever looked at one of my photos and it’s made you think about how thirsty you are for a beer, I can tell you I’m excited to continue that trend while hopefully making you hungry as well. More on that soon…
Per usual, can't stop thinking about this burger and probably won't until the next time I have one. It's a vicious cycle but oh so tasty. And always worth the wait.
Sat on Chicago's most popular couch today.
My Friday morning started with some nice light and pictures of wild ales aged on wine grapes. If that sounds delicious, slide on over to @penrosebrewing and click the link in the profile for some tickets to the inaugural Celebration of Funk festival on Saturday, September 30th. And don't forget to stock up on the Tums.
Another trip around the sun for this one. It's crazy when I think about how much @amandarae9785 accomplished in her 31st year and can't wait to see what she does with year 32. One of the first items on the agenda: smash some @auchevalchicago burgers this weekend to celebrate her birthday. Love you and am continually inspired by you every day.
The hardest part about shooting food is not shoveling it in your face as soon as it's set in front of you. Go follow @28westcreative and stay tuned for more. Oh and grab a sandwich from @thenobelhouse next time you're in Geneva.
When we weren't eating or drinking all the things in Toronto, I spent some time wandering the streets snapping away and finding gems like @tkentertainer. Tap the link in my profile for a full @28westcreative gallery and stay tuned for more. #tbt#duckman
