I'm doing a little gift circle over on Facebook and I wanted to extend the invite to anyone here that wanted to join in!
All you have to do is buy one $10 gift for someone and invite others to join and you'll end up getting 6+ gifts in return! Super fun and easy, I ordered something off of amazon for my gift and had it sent directly to my person, and it's fun to give a gift to someone you don't know! :) if you're interested in joining just direct message me on Instagram and I will send you more info! πŸŽ„πŸŽπŸ’Œ

Attempting to do something fun and Christmas-y a few times a week with the kids. Yesterday we "decorated" Christmas trees with leftover clippings from our big tree. I currently have things like: Christmas cookie decorating, driving around at night to look at Christmas lights, opening and reading new Christmas books, painting wooden Christmas ornaments, taking baked goods to neighbors, etc. on my list of things to do. Any of you moms have low-key (cheap 😬) ideas of stuff I should add to it?

We usually make homemade hot chocolate (sugar free with maple syrup, lol!). Simple and easy special activity. We also do a premade gingerbread house kit.

I just looked up #slowhandmadechristmas and there were a few good ideas. It's hard with little ones bc I know they have to be pretty simple to keep their attention. I was gunna try and make pine cone bird feeders with peanut butter and seeds.

Cut snowflakes out of folded paper, and let the boys choose a room or window to hang them. Love this!

It's a little money and some work but cutting out a felt tree and allowing them to decorate and redecorate with different lights and ornaments, that you have to cut out also. So it's some leg work but fairly inexpensive. Also the dollar store has a few Christmas coloring books!

We've checked dr.'s visits, TB tests, health and safety inspections, and fingerprinting off of the foster care "to-do" list in the last week. Our home visit is scheduled for Monday and we are SO close to the end of this process it's finally starting to feel real. As different as the experiences are, I've found so many similarities between preparing for our bio babies and preparing for foster babies. And if there's one thing I could say to you today about fostering it would be this: If you're interested in fostering or adoption please don't let the process scare you. We don't blink at what it takes to bring our bio babies home safely (changing our diet, doctors visits, insurance/hospital paperwork, special exercises, birth classes, hospital tour, labor/c-section 😩) so don't let a different kind of busy/tasks be the thing that stops you from growing your family through adoption. I will be the first to tell you that I was overwhelmed at the beginning and have continued to have days where it all seems like too much, but with every new step in the process completed I look back and realize that it wasn't actually that difficult. The unknown and different always feels more intimidating than what is more common but it doesn't mean that it actually is. (And with that said, I love talking about foster care because I know how hard it is to find helpful info on all the "how-to's" so if anyone has any questions fire away!) #nationaladoptionmonth #lovemakesafamily

Story time: When Josh and I were planning our little getaway this fall we tossed around ideas of places we could go, but the one spot I kept coming back to was the Sierra mountains. I don't know why in particular, but I wanted to go back to Tahoe, and see Yosemite for the first time. But once we actually looked at all the options it was obvious that wasn't a good choice (too late in the year, we didn't have enough days off to make it worth it, flights were expensive, etc.) and so we decided on Boston instead! And I was thrilled to be going there, really, but still sad to not be going to CA.
The same day I bought our flights to Boston I got an email from a girl who wanted to talk about the possibility of me shooting her vegas wedding next year + engagement pictures in Mammoth, CA. And before I knew it I had flights booked and a shoot planned in the very place I'd been dying to visit. Yesterday I flew into the Tahoe/Reno airport, drove 3 hours through the Seirras, and then woke up for the most glorious sunrise session surrounded by mountains. Gods goodness is never "less" or "more" than other times, so it feels hypocritical to say "Isn't God good?!" on a day when it's particularly easy to say that, but the way this whole trip has come to be has felt so special. God is rich in mercy and grace, and He will be the same again tomorrow morning when I wake up in my own bed with laundry and errands and desk work to do.

Experiencing 3 different seasons in one week, Boston 🍁, Texas β˜€οΈ(still summer 😏), and now on my way to California for an engagement session and there is snow on the ground! ❄️ Throw in daylight savings and 3 different time zones and my body doesn't know which way is up πŸ™ˆ

@sarahslarsen I'm flying into Reno tonight, which I know is close-ish to you, but I figured it was too far of a drive for a quick meet up 😞 I'm driving 3 hours tonight to get to mammoth, I have a sunrise session there tomorrow morning and then I leave to drive back to the airport and I fly out of Reno mid afternoon.

My favorite part of Boston was the "make way for ducklings park", more commonly known as The Boston Public Gardens. πŸ˜‰Robert Mcklosky's books were some of my favorites as a kid and still some of my favorites to read to my boys. This park feels just like a storybook, with the pond + ducks, pretty white bridge, and massive trees (lots of weeping willows!). #bostonpublicgardens #makewayforducklings

This guys is taking a 4.5 hour test right now and then he is coming home for dinner for the first time in over a month! He's worked so hard for this and I'm in awe of how much determination he's had through it all, really and truly! But mostly just so excited to have him around again, he's my dearest and best. 😘

So, Boston was absolutely lovely. We ate pasta and cream puffs and cappuccinos and pizza and warm soup, walked miles, read books and saw history, it was all so so enjoyable :) I deleted Instagram and Facebook off my phone when we left and I loved not even thinking about them the whole time. Now I'll just string out my boston posts for the next few weeks πŸ˜‰

Treated them to a ride on the carousel because a. They had just endured 2 hours of hunting for the perfect backpack purse for my trip, and b. Because I'm about to drop them off at my parents house for almost 4 whole days and it makes my stomach hurt just thinking about it 😩 (loving on them extra hard this afternoon) #mylittlebandofboys
