iPhone preview from today with @stokedspicolis. Always happy when she’s in town. Also, it’s getting to the point where an iPhone shot can look just as good as any real camera, which is scary and awesome at the same time.
The benefit of having a birthday near the end of the year is I can do these year end reflective posts and “I’m getting older” posts at the same time. So yeah, its’s my birthday, and I’m 33 now, and here’s my #2017bestnine. It’s been a weird year. Some year end self reminders and goals: 1) Instagram isn’t my portfolio. And it’s not my job either. I can’t play the Instagram game and win and also do the work I really want. I’m ok with this, even if my ego suffers a bit when I lose followers every day and I barely break 100-200 likes most of the time. 2) Curation is good and all, but am I curating for more likes or curating to better express my own artistic intentions? 3) Two words - Intention and audacity. Create with intention. Put yourself out there with audacity. (Thanks to @nathaliek for that second part). Anyways here’s to 33/2018 and all the new changes that will inevitably come.
Now that I’m not renting a studio monthly, it’s forced me to find warmth and a makeshift studio here at home. Sometimes finding interesting shots in unideal situations is good for your creative brain // @rebbyyuer
