• Y O U • A R E • V A L U A B L E • Women have been devalued for so long. We bring in life to the world from our wombs. We raise children without help from others. We run companies & households. We build up broken communities. We heal broken hearts with love that flows from the depths of our aching souls. We are the glue that holds this broken world together. We ARE needed. We WILL be respected, valued, and loved for generations to come!!! For the Men & Women who say “make sure they know you mean no”. Sometimes there’s not a chance to say “no”. When someone makes a decision that includes YOUR body, but EXCLUDES your permission...THAT is not okay!!
Also, remember that sexual assault and sexual harassment don’t always happen inside of a bedroom, it happens publicly all the time. So the scenario of a “drunk girl in a boy’s dorm room” that many of you like to use as a justifiable example is non relative in many sexual assault cases and should also NEVER be used in an argument to justify sexual assault/harassment.

My grandpa is one of my favorite human beings...ever! He loves so patiently, so kind, so selflessly. My grandmothers health has declined due to a disease called "Alzheimers". I spend hours at their home every week to cook for them and just be with amazing, funny, loving human beings. My grandpa normally tells me revelations the Lord has given him and what he's been praying about. My grandfather once told me "there's a lot I can be bitter about..but I CHOOSE not to be". This is his philosophy in everything he does. He does everything for everyone. This type of love seems pretty rare these days. Love now days is so selfish and self seeking. I hope that as life continues to try and knock me down, I live with this philosophy. I hope I will choose NOT to be bitter every time. I hope that the brokenness of other people will not leave me jaded, but more on fire to love them well. I hope all these things for my present life honestly. It's not easy to not get offended or be optimistic after time and time again, things don't work. The truth is, there's plenty all of us can be bitter about. BUT there's also a lot we can be happy and thankful for. I want to choose to appreciate those things.
This picture is symbolic in the sense it reminds me of those black and white movies where the man would do anything for the woman he loved. This is my grandfather's car. He has a thing for vintage cars #vintage#cars#vintagecars#tbird#fordtbird#thunderbird#blackandwhite#photography#photographer#photo#photooftheday#carphotography#blog#love#post#blogpost#inspirationalquotes#inspirational
“Its in loving ourselves despite our flaws, that true beauty is found” -angela M
It's a really beautiful thing when someone loves you despite your flaws..it's rare that we love ourselves despite our flaws. It's easy to think of loving ourselves and only the good things come to mind. But what if everything came to mind..the good, bad, the ugly. What if we could look at the deepest parts of ourselves and be pleased.
Do you practice loving the ugly parts about yourself? Are you intentional about looking in the mirror and complimenting every part of your body that may not be your favorite?
With plastic surgery so popular, it's easy to get a quick fix to things you don't like on the outside. But what message does that send to the rest of yourself? Unfortunately, they haven't come up with a surgery yet to fix the inner parts of ourselves. How do you deal with things you dont like about yourself or personality or decisions you make?
I encourage you to embrace the bad..commit to working on yourself and growing. Commit to loving all of yourself. Know that nothing will be "perfect", but that's beautiful. I hope you love yourself more and more everyday and know your worth. I hope you never settle for less because you think you aren't deserving of the good things in life that may be hard to come by. Be patient in this process.
"I came to this country when I was 7 years old, an age that is far from settling into who you really are...so I went with the flow. It wasn't until high school after I gave my life to the Lord that I realized I didn't need or want to be like anyone else. That I was made to be different..we all are, so I pursued Him."
We all had a moment or season in life that really started to define who we were. Whether it was through decisions or life events...we had a time where we said "this is who I am". Those moments continue through life as we continuously discover who we are and what we stand for.
I often "find myself" in the chaos or difficult situations. I see myself making decisions better than the last time, or handling things differently than I have before. I become pleased when seeing that I'm getting closer and closer to the person I desire to be. The decisions you make when stress rises and doubt surrounds you start to define the very core of who you are. We wont always make the right choices or say the right thing, but when we do...its a sure sign of growth...and growth is beautiful! Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Know that even in your mistakes, you're doing the best you can. Take notes for next time and continue to grow. You'll find yourself in the chaos. So when stress arises, don't be shaken. Stand firm in who YOU say you are! #inspiration#blog#blogpost#photographyblog#quotes#inspirationalquotes#women#womeninspire#strength#mariestories#Jesus#God#encouragement#writing#interview#hope
💡African nights + letters from friends📃
Every night in Tanzania, I got to read a letter from one of my best friends or family. That was my favorite part of every day. To climb in that hot tent, get my flashlight and read a letter from someone I loved over and over and over. When it came to this part of the night, i was able to reflect and see God's hand in every second if that day. To see that He had been preparing everything for this moment when I would read a letter and it be exactly what I needed. I would hear the kids running, playing and laughing while i sat in a pitch black tent thinking how fortunate we all were to be loved and going to sleep with full bellies. The most valuable principle i learned from this trip was GRATITUDE. It's hard to be unhappy when you're thanking the Lord for all He has done.
Oct 2016 || my wonder
"Wonder is defined as: a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar...• they are my wonder. Their smiles, their laughs, their strength cause me to have endless wonder. I wonder what goes on in their beautiful little heads, I wonder if they view life as a fairytale, or do they see the sad reality of everyday life but still choose to smile. Do they see others as beautiful as the sun, blinding them from every flaw and imperfection? Their hearts responding like ivy, surviving in the roughest of circumstances 🌿. My heart fills with WONDER, knowing that the sparkle in their eyes is not just a glimmer , but a light that shines from deep within despite the darkness around them. They are a little being with a light that shines very big, in a big world with little light. They cause Wonder ❤️" -Jordyn B

I was asked, "what is your life message?"
As Gandhi would say "my life is my message"
I live by my personal conviction to choose to see beauty in everything...every little thing. Good or bad!
When I see beauty, it stirs up gratitude. When I'm thankful, God is always good in my mind. He's good regardless, but I SEE His goodness when I am thankful and I've chosen to see the beauty in the toughest of circumstances.
It is my hope that others are encouraged and strengthened in tough situations through the stories of beauty I share, giving them a hopeful Godly perspective into their problems. Through my life, I hope people see God as the beautiful intricate amazing being He is. That if they've been believing lies about who God is..that my message of beauty would make them question and think...have I been trying too hard for His love this whole time? That love and beauty would eventually become so easy to see for even the most cynical of people. My life message is for everything I do to point to Jesus and the beauty of God. I have not yet perfected this, and probably never will. But I am a work in progress... everyone is. #mariestories#stories#story#gandhi#gandhiquotes#love#jesus#God#christian#beauty#beautiful#photography#photographer#photo#photoshoot#photooftheday#plussize#blackandwhite#photoblog#photographyblog#devo#perspective
