"What is done out of love, always takes place beyond good or evil."
The absolute love of my life is this little guy right here. Since he was born, I've talked with him almost every day, though now it's more on weekends since school started. He is such a goof with me and loves to call me when he wakes or has playtime. It's pretty amazing that at 4 years old he calls himself, positions the camera just so, making sure I see what we're doing during playtime and cuter than anything when he postures himself in all sorts of ways for serious close-up views. He makes me laugh, and he makes me cry (though he never sees that), and always, he makes my heart skip a beat when he tells me he loves me in so many different ways. I wonder if he truly has any clue how much I love him. Probably not since I can't measure it myself, it's infinite. #MormorInLove#HeIsMyFavoriteThing
Yay! My #HappyMail today was a book I've been so excited to get; Modern Florals by @allikdesign. As an Graphic & Instructional Designer for many years, I appreciate the various ways people learn, especially as adults. Ali has stuck with the basic mantra of, "This is what we're doing, this is how to do it, do it yourself, and finally, this is what we've done." (Plus she's a Texan, from DALLAS!) Her book is full of information on her process both in writing and using visual step-by-steps. Ali also provides names of the florals and cacti being created which I really love. The end of the book summarizes all that's been learned and how to put it together artfully while encouraging personal creativity. I hope her next book fills in some gaps on corresponding leaves to the flowers and more bouquets & cacti! In contrast, @thepigeonletters style is much more of a visual learning style, which I also love. (I'm a very visual learner). Both books are amazing and I can't wait to get started with Ali's methodology. I love the shading and depth of her style, and all the info on why she is adding this and that. A real joy to read. But because I'm a bit OCD, I have to finish every page of Peggy's book first, which is a ton of fun. #ModernFlorals101, #BotanicalLineDrawing, #ArtisticPainManagement#FightingTheFibroBitch
This picture makes me so happy. My daughters had a "sister" weekend so they could see #Hanson play live. The first time they saw them my eldest was 10 and my youngest was 5. This time, even as adults, they were total goofballs as usual, and dare I even say, fan girls? Seeing all my babies together seriously makes me cry and wonder at their future. #MyWholeWorld#MyImmortality#TheySureHaveLearnedToFly and their wings are stunning.
I know, I know... More paper? But seriously, this limited edition @whitelinespaper dot pad had me at "dots." I might have bought a couple (or five) of them. Also, my @thepigeonletters Botanical Line Drawing book came in on the same day. I'm super stoked to get going using her methodology in the advanced section. If there was just one thing I would change about this book it would be more information on what the names of the flowers and plants are, and which leaves go with which flower. Maybe a cheat sheet on her blog? Nevertheless, it's very well designed and focused and totally feeds the #InstructionalDesigner in me. Well done Peggy! ...now to get the 🌵 book in Sweden without the shipping killing me. #HappyMail#ArtTherapy#oodlesofdoodles
In case you were wondering, (well, of course you were or why else would you be following me), I have the best husband in the world. He surprised me with #Dumle Cookies!!! Yes, DUMLE, the greatest chocolate candy east of the Mississippi. It's a #Swedish thing, so if you haven't tried it, you're missing out. Needless to say, they were ahhhhmazzzzing!!! #RealMenBake#IMarriedHimForHisCooking (...and the bow chicka wow wow, but that's another story).
#Autumn is my absolute favorite time of the year, especially for a Texan where the seasons are missed if you blink. In Sweden you can smell the autumn, feel it in the air, and see it with glorious colors #MotherNature displays as the cycle of life, (and death), are portrayed beautifully.
