I feel like l've abandon this account a bit to focus on my other account @eatsnz . So I'm gonna try and give it some love again.
@geraldlimnz , @isaacsmartphotography , @michael.smart.18847 and I actually tried to capture the sunset but couldn't due to road closures. In the end we missed it, so we scouted for a place for Astro instead and stumbled across this little church with the Milky Way right on top of it!
15 sec exposure
Was supposed to do an Astro shoot at the @christchurchnz Insta meet but the clouds felt like the stars needed a rest. So @brentpurcell.nz took some steel wool and lit it up, showing his pyrotechnics skills 😂
It was so good to finally go out in the weekend shooting and not work. Had an awesome time at the @christchurchnz Insta meet. Got to catch up with @debc_nz & @brentpurcell.nz , funnily back in Akaroa again. Learnt some new stuff, met some new friends, climbed a lamp post… (shhhh… more on that next time). The plan was to catch the sunset. Wasn’t the most lit but there’s still some colour. Thanks again to Brent and Deb for your teaching and guidance; and to @nisifiltersaustralia , @photogear.nz & @nikonnz for making the meet happen

So throw back to camping at Hooker Lake. After surviving the night in a tent at -3 degrees, strong winds, rain and snow overnight, we were rewarded with this beautiful, serene sight. Long before the first visitors arrived
I gave up DSLR nearly 5 years ago for various reasons. Now I like to showcase what non-DSLR cameras can do. Cos it's not always about getting the best/highest spec/expensive gear but it's about knowing your gear well and work creatively within it. So if you don't have the next and latest or the best, it's okay. 😉

Had an awesome time on the water in the weekend, thanks to @blackcatcruises and @christchurchnz. Although we didn’t get to swim with the dolphins, I still met a bunch of very cool and crazy-fun-loving people. It was so good to put a face to the names we follow on Insta. Funny how the weather cleared up for us when we left on our cruise - it was meant to be.
Camping at Hooker Lake. Let me fill you in on a couple of firsts.
First time being at Hooker Lake
First time carrying nearly a 20kg load on my back for a trip
First time camping at Mt Cook
First time camping in winter
FIRST TIME ACTUALLY SLEEPING IN A TENT OUTDOOR!
What a way to be introduce to camping 😳 but I loved it!
Also how cool is this photo taken by @geraldlimnz ? With @isaacsmartphotography and @hugh_burnett_photo
Quick grab a shot while no one is in the frame! That's what you gotta do when it's a popular spot (and a bit of patience 😉)
Good day for a 2 hour walk with extra 20kg I reckon 😂
Coming back from Mt Cook, saw this and had to stop cos Dronie wanted to come out.
