On this last day of fasting it is also the National Day of Prayer and Fasting. Let's join together and believe that for our church and every church the world over, that the Kingdom of God would displayed and revealed in the hearts of people. We are called for this time. We are called to be active and on the move. Let's agree today that the will of the Father be continually revealed in and through us and that hearts be revived and renewed.
When you hear the word 'missions' at Gateway, what we are actually saying is – “We believe that God has commanded us to go to Jerusalem, Samaria and the ends of the earth to share Jesus and see His salvation, compassion and goodness offered to all.” Jerusalem being Local, Samaria being our Nation and the World being Global.
There are many reasons that we choose to be active in mission and contributors to the mission. The core reason to our response, compassion and passion toward this is framed out of the Bible. The following scriptures capture our desire to partner with and for the kingdom. Simply put – “That God would be made known both locally and globally to the hearts of all humanity.” Pray for the missions initiatives we support as a church;
• Church Planting both Locally and Globally
• A21 Campaign
• GraceWorks Myanmar
• Bus Ministry
• Student Services
• Food Parcels
• Youth Alive Victoria
When it comes to Mission at Gateway;
It is our heart in motivation, words, actions and deeds to fervently embrace the mission of the Kingdom. To partner with Him in actively pursuing and fulfilling the command of Jesus - “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” You can collect a missions booklet at church on Sunday from The Community Hub in the foyer.
As part of our prayer for missions we lift up prayer for the people of Israel. Our hearts and prayers echo Romans 10:1 – "Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved." #gatewaygeelong#gcfasting#21daysofPrayerandFasting
We as a people are committed to following, obeying, representing the teachings of Jesus.
John 14:23 (NLT)
Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.
We are committed to developing the habits of a disciple, reproducing and living ready.
Colossians 3:9-10 (NLT)
Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.
Pray that today and always we would find ourselves, our church and our church culture in pursuit of following, obeying, and representing the teachings of Jesus in words, actions and deeds. Pray that our image and identity would become more like Jesus everyday.
Are you still found in awe and wonder as God continues to reveal your identity and purpose? Have you continued having your image and identity unwrapped after meeting Jesus?
Each generation needs someone to stand in their original created identity.
You can look at countless examples of this in the bible, one of them Joseph in Genesis 45. He realised that although life was challenging and his brothers betrayed him, that God had a bigger plan. In Genesis 45:7 we read - "God has sent me ahead of you to keep you and your families alive and to preserve many survivors. So it was God who sent me here, not you!" What image and identity are you revealing to those who have done wrong by you?
During this time of prayer and fasting allow God to heal you so that peace and compassion exude through your image and identity. Remember, you original image and purpose was created in His!
Genesis 1:26-28 (VOICE)
God: Now let Us conceive a new creation—humanity—made in Our image, fashioned according to Our likeness. And let Us grant them authority over all the earth—the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, the domesticated animals and the small creeping creatures on the earth.
So God did just that. He created humanity in His image, created them male and female. Then God blessed them and gave them this directive: “Be fruitful and multiply. Populate the earth. I make you trustees of My estate, so care for My creation and rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that roams across the earth.”
#repost@gatewaychurch_ If you need healing of your spirit, body or soul. Begin this journey today. ••• Day 17 • 21 Days and Prayer and Fasting
Spiritual, physical and emotional health. Today we pray for ourselves, our families, our friends and strangers who become neighbours. Pray that through God's power, spirit and grace that we would be found responsive and proactive to pursue health and renewal in our spiritual walk, our physical health and our soul / emotions. Pray that we would give ourselves over to being more Christlike, so that our interactions with others would bring people to a revelation of what God can do and who God really is. As we Let God and His profound wisdom penetrate deep into our hearts it brings life and healing to our whole body.
Proverbs 4:21-23 (NLT)
Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart,
for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
Proverbs 3:5-10 (NLT)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones.
Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.
Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine." #gatewaygeelong#gcfasting#21daysofPrayerandFasting
Today, let's pray for the leaders in our nation & states. Those elected and non-elected. Pray that their hearts be lifted, that their minds be clear and that their decisions and impact be life giving,
Political: Community leaders, local, state and federal.
Church: Pastors, board, departments.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NLT)
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth." #gatewaygeelong#gcfasting#21daysofPrayerandFasting
