It was a hard choice today whether to march in Portland or attend Owen's first birthday celebration. So many women I love and respect are marching here and in DC. I knitted pussyhats and know that the women who'll wear them are my sisters. But ultimately I decided to make my day about the future I want. I'll spend it with family. With my daughter and niece -- two amazing young women who are doing all they can, each in her own way, to live in their own strengths and to build a just and good future for others. And Owen. There is no more hopeful act. I can't wait to see the man he will be.
