Symmetry is hard. Having seen a few handplanes down in Cornwall, I thought I'd have a bash at making one myself from off-cuts from our oak shelves. I've largely been hand-shaping it using chisels & planes with my great-grandfather's name stamped on them, that still cut through the wood like they were bought yesterday. I'm probably about 3 hours in at this point & I'm pretty happy with the rough shape. Now for a *lot* of sanding.
