First ski of the season for both of us. Snow was very high quality. Our skiing skills however... a little bit rusty.
Looking for partners. Hit me up if you want to climb this next season!
@chris_j_lee_ and @brannely did an awesome job on their graduation climb today. These guys put up 6 pitches in truly alpine weather conditions with spitting rain and blowing winds with only a few choice cloud breaks. All I had to do was sit back, relax, and feed them the occasional gummy bear.
First ever trip to Darrington. @crawdad_antenna_eh (who hasn't climbed in two years?!?) and I went up Blueberry Buttress on Exfoliation Dome. Learned a few things along the way: 1) the guidebooks including the new ones are crap. Approach and Descent descriptions were pretty confusing. 2) the sidewalk will be wet and sketchy in the morning the day after it rains. 3) there exists a shitty bushwhack deer trail that will get you to the climbing anyway. It sucks. 4) a 60m rope will just barely get you up a single pitch. 5) if you try and follow the Descent directions in the guidebook, you will end up doing many 60m rappels off of really old school hangers with lots of crappy tat instead of chains and not end up back at the start of the climb. There are zero bolts along this "route" so unless you're comfortable free soloing 5.12 slab, make sure your rope doesn't get stuck! 6) the rock in Darrington is totally spectacular and I need to go back real soon with someone who actually wants to lead slab for me.
