To the top of Half Dome via the cables last month. We started at 4am and hiked ~20 miles in total. The valley was filled with smoke from fires in the area. Can’t wait to do it again.
We spent downtime freediving to the ocean floor near Bimini on my trip to the Bahamas last month with @wilddolphinproject. It’s a colorful, diverse world. This is a Spirobranchus giganteus, also known as a Christmas tree worm. The individual worm has two “trees” or crowns which consist of radioles. These radioles are used for respiration, and catching prey. 📷 with the @leica_camera X-U (thanks to @lumoidit).
A small group of Atlantic spotted dolphins we observed on my most recent trip with @wilddolphinproject. We had a lot of great encounters on this trip. Observing Atlantic spotted dolphins in the wild is a breathtaking experience. You can hear/feel their clicks and whistles as they communicate with one another. They’re friendly and inquisitive. As Atlantic spotted dolphins age, they become more spotted, and these spots are one of the ways the research team can identify the individuals. 📷 taken with the Leica X-U (thanks @lumoidit!).
Last week I got back from 8 days in The Bahamas aboard RV Stenella with @wilddolphinproject. The project is in its 34th season researching a group of Atlantic spotted dolphins in the wild. We had good weather, a great group of people on board, and memorable encounters with the dolphins. It was my fifth trip, and I can't wait to return next season.
We rented bikes last weekend in London and rode from Rapha to Richmond Park, through Wimbledon, stopped for lunch at an amazing deli named Italo, and crossed the Thames on the Tower Bridge. 35 miles in all, on a single speed steel frame with a Brooks saddle. It was one of the most memorable days abroad. 📷 @kayvz (+ fellow adventurers @couch and @awasserman 🚲🚲🚲🚲)
The curing room. Fantastic dinner last night in London with my friend @couch.
