Around 830am we left our lodge to climb our last mountain for this trip, Gokyo Ri. Gokyo Ri is not for the faint of heart as the trail is very steep, slippery with sand and lose stones. At one point during the hike, I looked down toward our lodge and I freaked out. Most of the time I relied on music from my iPod and counting my steps to 100 and repeat.
Exactly 3hr 01min 48sec we arrived at the top of Gokyo RI (5357 mtr AMSL) gaining altitude more than 600 mtr.
From its summit, four of the six highest mountains in the world -Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,485m) and Cho Oyu (8,188m) - are visible.
