olive’s having a birthday sleepover with a couple friends. we got ice cream at nearly 9 (their usual bedtime is 8…). now, at 10:00, the girls have the energy of a pack of sugar-crazed monkeys. 😬
harry and the gals.
saw a small, up-and-comer tonight…
the multi-talented @christenbyrd has somehow stumbled into becoming the go-to person in LR for creating really big, cool balloon displays for a variety of LR businesses. swing by tulips in the heights today to see her latest creation. (and if you need this for your business/church/whatever, hit her up!)
sometimes when you’re out of school, you go to the halloween store and try on every single mask. (just like the other million dirty-faced people before us…)
one of the unexpected (but not so hidden) gems in paducah is the coke plant, built in 1939. it’s a beautiful art deco building that you’d never expect to be a coke plant, especially in the middle of paducah. after sitting in ruins for over a decade, it was restored to its original glory and a mellow mushroom opened in it earlier this year.
in early 2005, @christenbyrd and i moved to paducah, kentucky for a job. we basically knew no one when we arrived, but we made some lifelong friends in the 2+ years we were here (not to mention that we had our first born child here) and fell in love with this charming, quirky little town. just a month shy of 10 years since we left, it’s good to visit and introduce our kids to all the things that made us love it.
every 700 years or so, @christenbyrd lets me take her picture. today was one of those times! this is for a profile that a local site is about to do on her about her work at @loblollycreamery. from baking to designing to screenprinting to momming and everything in between, i’m proud of everything she accomplishes.
