This dish, wrapped up in a banana leaf parcel exudes a certain mystery. When you untie the parcel, the aromas imprisoned inside rush out to tease your senses, making your mouth water, adding so much more to the tasting experience of this dish.

@thefinelychopped then I've learnt something new about my cuisine thanks to you. Nice :) I've seen chhana patoori in restaurants. Actually my mom never made patoori. She was not really much into cooking

    saffrontrail

@thefinelychopped so it's very much a traditional recipe - fish or chenna being the more popular ones, this is a lesser known version

This Bengali delicacy - Sheem Paturi found place of pride in this Tamil kitchen today. Tender flat beans from my kitchen garden, tossed with a freshly dug out sweet potato, topped with a spice paste that has all the punch mustard can muster, add to that the fierceness of tiny green chilies, all of this packed up in a banana leaf parcel and steamed cooked to perfection in a pan. Had with steamed rice, this was a divine delicacy indeed. Link in bio, and you MUST try it out!

We usually cook it with mashed potato (only a small amount else the taste of mushroom will be lost), raw onions, tomatoes and green chillies cut into small cubes. Skipping the potato part, also tastes good 👍

@snigdhasahoo lovely idea! What should I mix it with?

Breakfast - Overnight oats topped with apple slices cooked down and caramelised, bits of walnut and ground green cardamom. Hearty, filling and fragrant, the warmth of the cooked apples makes up for the rather cold bowl of uncooked oats.

@ektakaur of course you can add any milk but I like to cook in water and then add a splash of almond milk when ready to eat.

    dp_tamirisa

Is there a link to what you mean by overnight oats?

    ektakaur

@mahvishq will try this? No milk, just water?

    mahvishq

@saffrontrail what are you using to ferment the oats?

    mahvishq

@ektakaur I add hot water to the oats and then put it on warm instead of low. It sticks way less and is warm in the morning. The rest I put in the fridge and slowly heat in the stove as needed.

Went on a tree walk this morning conducted as a part of the @neralufestival to celebrate our trees. Learnt about pods, leaves, barks, fruits and flowers. Befriended the gulmohars, the ficus, the fern tree, the copper pods and many others. In this picture is the majestic rain tree spreading its arms to create a most beautiful canopy.

Hi @saffrontrail! I came across a couple of toasted millets muesli packets today..it was quite expensive...was wondering if you can suggest some granola/muesli recipe using local millets like barnyard or foxtail..i mean I don't even know if they can be toasted and had as such..it would be great if you came up with a healthy recipe for all of us😊 I have tried your millet recipes and they've turned out great. thanks!
