This verse from Jeremiah has been lingering on my mind lately.
It addresses two evils, committed not by unbelievers but by God's people.
The first evil is to forsake Him, the fountain of living water. There is no other source for us to have true live flowing from our innermost beings than by being rightly related to our God through Jesus (John 4:20-14). The second evil is to form our own cisterns, which ultimately cannot hold water. They leak. We turn to our own ideas and approaches and take matters into our own hands but these efforts leak.
Can you see how you've often done this in your own life?
Does God's word have the #1 priority in your life?
When we value His authority and wisdom, we out His word first. His word is truth that transforms. His word is life. His word is a lamp for our feet and a light to our paths...showing us where we are and where we should be headed.
