I have a hard time sitting still. Outdoor adventurer & @finexusa marketing director. Always optimistic. Portland, Ore.
Boiled river water & Folgers Instant: even the worst coffee is much better than no coffee ☕️ Especially yesterday, spent miles upriver, catching fish in near freezing temps, shivering unprepared & humming along to Neil Young on the tinny iPhone speaker 'till the battery died.
🍂Watched the sunset sharpen shadows on Mt Jefferson while standing under an oak tree festooned with Christmas lights today. 14 years ago I tried to solo the mountain's north ridge. I was perched on the edge of Jeff Park Glacier when a ton or so of rock fell off the peak about 500' above me. I clung to my ice axe, terrified as it thundered past. At the time I thought I could feel the whole glacier shaking but now I think it was probably just me. #exploregon
Eating oysters & smoked sea salt - both from the Oregon coast 💙 #eatlocal 〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
PS: thanks to @cordpdx for carrying this Opinel oyster shucker along w/ select @finexcookware cast iron 👍
Sunday morning's view ☁️
🌧Made it out to the coast range around midnight & slept cozy in my car but woke to the sound of rain still drumming on the rooftop.
I brewed coffee under the half-open hatchback & drove down a couple gravel roads I'd yet to explore before setting off up a brushy ridge. Bushwhacked a few wet miles, found (& lost) a covey of quail but eventually got back with a bag full of these bright apricot-scented chanterelles. #foresttotable
Checked out the art museum (& this version of Paradise Lost, populated by bejeweled, entrail-eating birds 😳) w/ these two yesterday 😊 #wordstockpdx
A+ breakfast views this morning! 🗻
Left Portland after dinner last nite, drove up Hood till I could see the Milky Way and made camp: coffee making kit & stove arranged neatly within arm's reach of my sleeping bag. (Coffee in bed makes fall camping much nicer & is p easy to do if you plan ahead!)
When my iPhone alarm went off it was still dark. I lit the stove, hit snooze & snuggled back into my bag 'till the coffee percolated. Soon after I watched the stars fade into a brightening morning sky. #cascadiaexplored
