While autumn might be the season of yellows, oranges, and reds on all the trees. It’s also the season of this show off in my yard. #camelia#sasanqua
On All Souls Eve...
The closest I made it to Mount Mitchell...On Sunday night crossing Black Mountain on I-40 it was crazy windy and then it started to snow, yes snow. Blowing all across the road but thankfully not accumulating anywhere on it. I was thinking jeez it’s just a tad too early for snow? When I got into Asheville it was no where to be found and I went about my stay. Next day headed out to the Blue Ridge Pkwy. When I got to the Visitor Center the ranger said, “well Mother Nature ripped us one last night!” Multiple inches of snow, ice in some places causing sections of the park to be closed. Included in this closure was the part from Craggy Gardens to Mt. Mitchell, and Mount Mitchell State Park to boot. So this was as close as I got. Strange driving on the parkway with ice on the rock face and some small patches of snow still visible in the shady places. Still a beautiful drive as always.
