I’ve been reading a lot lately about how a photographer develops their personal style and how one intentionally creates consistent work. It’s always been an intuitive thing for me... I often joke that OCD plays a huge role in how I compose an image. It’s a fun exercise to go through your images and dissect them — what elements/themes are most important to you? For me: leading lines, high contrast, scale (small people + vast spaces), architecture and most importantly, really fucking gorgeous light.

Reaching for 2018 like... Happy New Year!

Happy Anniversary to the Thompsons! Hands down one of the most fun and unique weddings I’ve ever photographed... in stop-motion! And today, three years later, I have the honor of photographing their family again, this time with one additional pint-sized member. Scroll 👉🏼 to see the bride @leannes7 rip a piñata in half on her first swing + yummy bites from @amihoexperience + @native_poppy garland getting busy on the dance floor. 💯#smashingweddings

Feeling nostalgic about 2017... so many highs and so many lows. Somehow the photos make me forget about the yucky stuff, so I made a little recap in the stories. Check out the full blog post >> link in bi-yooooo!

To the families I’ve had the pleasure of working with this year: thank you. Thank you for trusting me with the most precious people in your lives. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to spend an hour holding these people close and savoring these moments. Thank you for starting new traditions and keeping old traditions alive. And in more cases than not, thank you for being vulnerable in front of the camera and not letting the little things distract you from creating art with me. Family sessions are HARD — probably the hardest type of photography I’ve ever done. And I’m just the one holding the camera. You parents are the real heroes... I honestly don’t know how you do it. While I’m pretty sure having kids isn’t in my future, it makes my heart swell to see all of you giving so much love to each other. Thank you for sharing this incredible gift with me.
