Just danced in my bedroom and it made me think of how I never danced when I was younger. I never danced because I was never taught that it can be something so liberating, I never danced because I thought I have to be good in order to say that I love dancing proudly. At the age of 16, I convinced my parents to let me go for belly dancing classes, which completely changed the way I saw dance and my body. Being in a room full of women of different ages, sizes, and personalities, who were coming together to dance this feminine, sensual, yet spiritual dance filled me up in a way nothing else did. I have come a long way thinking that in order to love anything, I have to be extremely good at it, which has been such a toxic mentality that has continuously discouraged me to follow my passions. I am writing this to tell you that I'm going to keep trying. I will fail, but I will learn, and I will continue pursuing what I love without putting myself down (or at least I'll try not to, it's difficult when it's my first instinct). I will unlearn what I've learned from a society that cares a lot about what others think. I hope writing this here could validate your experiences if you've gone through something similar 💓 Have a good night you beautiful souls! And keep dancing! Or doing whatever it is that you love! ✨

1/3 // SO some of you might know that i was a part of @adellexadr's Inked project in which she digitally edits art onto your skin! i'm really liking the end results!! as someone who is a huge commitment phobe, i must've actually been so annoying to her when i was deciding on a concept (yes, even though it's not permanently on my skin) and having her to make some of the decisions has been really difficult but rewarding for me. i wouldn't have gotten any of these tattoos on my own. but, i think because they're out of my comfort zone, they bring out a new aesthetic that i never thought of. i hope you enjoy these works of art as much as i do, more pictures to come!!!! ✨
