Enjoyed this @kcbcbeer and @rockawaybrewco collaboration, Strictly Plutonic, a few nights ago. A very straight forward stout, no fuss, no muss, no frills, no adjuncts. It was a little more bitter than I would have liked, if the coffee notes were rounded out with a bit of sweeter chocolate, I would have liked it a bit more. Still a solid stout to drink on a chilly winter’s eve! Have a wonderful Tuesday, all! Cheers! #FB
Blackberry farm. Brett Saison. 2016. 6.3%
More Lambic than saison in taste but epic stuff!
Aroma funky, Saison spice, berries. Taste funk, peach, apricot, notes of saison spice 8/10
Anchor Christmas Ale, 2017 by Anchor Brewing – 6,7% ABV. Smooth, non-sticky sweetness, apparent bitterness, light Christmas spices and some acidity that cuts through and leaves the beer with a medium mouthfeel, instead of a medium+. Well balanced. Notes of malt extract, not sticky though, brown sugar, sugared coffee, limp Coke, cocoa, dark chocolate, green apples, coal, salmiak, cinnamon, cardamom and light notes of black licorice, juniper, walnuts, cranberries and clove bitterness. The aftertaste is roasted, with notes of burnt popcorn, burnt toast and dark roasted coffee.
Schiøtz Mørk Jule Ale (8.0%): First thought: “Is this liquid banana?” The aroma is banana, the taste is banana, but the label says it is not banana. The label says blackthorn, black currant, figs and prunes, but maybe that combination creates a banana-like flavouring? I do not know. But I do know (now) that I do not like liquid banana.
#Beerstyle: X-mas (Abbey Dubbel)
Sitting in that middle ground between an IPA and a genuine NEIPA, this aptly refers to itself as a Hazy IPA (whilst also saying its a NEIPA)... Whilst containing visual and fruit forward elements of that sought after New England style that aussies are pawing at frantically trying to recreate, it lacks that luscious mouthfeel and, as much as I hate to say it, "juice" factor... Breweries, be honest, call it what it actually is (as Six String semi have), make it an "inspired by" beer and get away from the hype train unless you can truly tick all the boxes for the style-nazis.
Incidentally, I enjoyed it.

Elvis Juice, Grapefruit Infused IPA.
A great IPA, nice chewy malt body, slightly sweet and finishes nice and bitter.
For anyone that follows regularly, you'd know about my disdain for grapefruit flavours...those that like them, will definitely enjoy this brew, it hits you in the face, pithy and juicy!
