We made a last minute decision to immerse ourselves in the super bloom. This is in Walker Canyon where we parked off the freeway to checkout the flowers. A bike cop was zooming toward us so we took off before we got a ticket. I don't love crowds but it's pretty incredible seeing so many people come together to enjoy nature. This poem is by Derek Walcott who just passed. He received a nobel prize in literature.
Loving yourself seems to get harder with age. And I don't mean practicing self-care and giving yourself a mani-pedi to feel better, I mean actually liking yourself flaws and all. It's maybe the hardest challenge of your lifetime. What's the point of it all if you don't, though. If you are a parent, you have the opportunity to model your self-love for your children. Of course you want them to love themselves. Think to when they don't like something about themselves and you try and convince them otherwise because you know they are perfect just the way they are. Well, say the same thing to yourself. Love yourself, truly. Sit and feast on your life.
