Today is #WorldPrematurityDay! Every year, more than 1 in 10 babies are born too early (before 37 completed weeks of pregnancy) & this number is rising. Preventing deaths and complications from preterm birth starts with a healthy pregnancy.

“When I heard my diagnosis for the first time I was not afraid because I never really heard about tuberculosis in my life. During my stay in the hospital I’ve learned many things - I learned that it is a very dangerous disease; I learned that millions of people are dying because of it; and I learned that there is a stigma surrounding this disease. People, who are not infected, react aggressively; they blame or avoid communications with those sick with tuberculosis. As a result, sick people are afraid to speak out - they hide or lie about what is actually happening to them. In my personal experience my doctor told me not to say I have tuberculosis to anybody, otherwise I will be branded for life. I think this is the main reason why humanity still cannot beat tuberculosis. As long as people are afraid to talk about it, the disease will continue to spread. I realised I want to fight it and the only weapon I am able to use is art.” Russian artist @Paulina_Siniatkina made a series of artworks during her months of #tuberculosis treatment in a Moscow #TB clinic. This is her story.
Today we united in #Moscow 🇷🇺 at the 1st Global WHO Ministerial Conference on Ending TB. Leave no one behind - Let’s unite to #EndTB.

Our colleagues in #Bangladesh are working really hard to protect nearly 360 000 #Rohingya people —ranging from 6 months old babies to 15 years old adolescents— from dangerous diseases. The children and adolescents will receive vaccines against #measles & #rubella in Cox’s Bazar, 🇧🇩 with support from WHO & partners.
Measles is one of the major health risks for the hundreds of thousands of people who have crossed over to #Bangladesh from #Myanmar since late August. #VaccinesWork
